Here we go again; the voting results are in. It was a tight race between Bali, Indonesia and Hanoi, Vietnam, but ultimately, you chose Bali as our next Drop Me Anywhere location. The theme of this last vote was the Paul Simon song, 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover. I think I made it clear that the last location, India, was not the love of my life. No, it was most definitely not a love connection. In fact, it was more like a Bridge Over Troubled Waters. I’ll go deeper into my feelings and experiences about, and in, India in the future. But in the next day or two, I’ll share the basics of why I feel as I do about my experiences there in the traditional final location story, The Good, the Bad, and the Thank-you’s.
In the meantime, I’ll take a little time to recover in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. As always, I’ll leave within about two-weeks for our next location. I truly appreciate all of your comments, likes and support thus far on this journey, and especially in India, which turned out to be my most challenging location. Still, this is not simply a geographical journey, but also a spiritual one (more than I counted on). I continue to learn so much about the world and myself, and will share more of my learnings and stories from the road in long form in the future book.
For now, I’ll go to every shopping mall possible, see movies, eat beef and salad, brush my teeth with tap water, drink good wine, sleep on soft mattresses with good pillows, take long, hot showers, pee, in clean bathrooms, and maybe even find a yoga class. Oh, and I’ll also be trying to find a volunteer opportunity as I also found India challenging in that realm. Stay tuned. . .
